As a maternal health advocate, Brya is responsible for the promotion and support of the OFS Food Is Medicine programs. Working with a team of multidisciplinary professionals, Brya addresses the social determinants of health contributing to food insecurity. She works closely with program participants to collaborate on solutions.

Brya earned her Bachelor’s degree in Gender & Women’s Studies and Africana Studies from Knox College. She then received her Master’s in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis.

As a volunteer, Brya has worked with school-age children and done community organizing on college campuses. She has lead consent/empowerment workshops for first-year students and ran “Allies for Sexual Assault Prevention” during her undergraduate education. Brya served as president of Students Against Sexism in Society, which was given the award for best campus organization.

Brya enjoys spending time with her fiancé and her son. She loves romance novels, exploring new playgrounds and discovering new television shows. In her free time, she likes to create educational graphics on and e-books about birth-related topics.
