Operation Food Search and MetroMarket: Expanding Food Access

St. Louis MetroMarket is a mobile grocery store that travels to areas with limited access to fresh, healthy food. MetroMarket’s innovative approach uses a customer model to empower the community to shop at significantly lower prices than retail grocers. Fresh, affordable produce has been carefully selected from local farm partners and is brought directly to partner sites in the community.

Your Support Goes A Long Way

Donations of any size are welcome and make a real difference to MetroMarket customers, who count on the bus for access to affordable, fresh food. All gifts are tax-deductible. We welcome company matching gifts, as well.

 

Here are some ways your support can make an impact

$10 – Supports a MetroMarket shopper with a $10 voucher to spend.
$20 – Provides an entire bag of fresh produce, free of charge.
$100 – Funds a day of Community Nutrition presentations & tastings at the bus.
$250 – Purchases pounds of fresh food to stock MetroMarket shelves.
$500 – Funds maintenance for the bus to continue operating all year.
$1,000 – Enables the bus to make a weekend flex stop at a community site.
$2,000 – Fuels the MetroMarket bus for an entire month.

ABOUT ST. LOUIS METROMARKET

Founded in 2016, MetroMarket’s bus travels to communities with little access to fresh, healthy food. The bus operates every Wednesday through Saturday, April through November, making two-hour stops at designated partner locations including Affinia Healthcare, the Ferguson Community Empowerment Center, Lewis and Clark Library, People’s Health Center and the YMCA O’Fallon Park.  Learn more at stlmetromarket.org.

The MetroMarket’s innovative funding model incorporates sponsorship from partner organizations where the bus stops, as well as from generous corporate funders and individual donors.

OFS will focus on expanding MetroMarket’s business relationships with area leaders and decision makers, as well as health care organizations and corporations. OFS will research year-round opportunities for the MetroMarket to best serve the region and remain a relevant resource in food deserts.
