• 1 package dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp. of sugar or honey
  • 3/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt


  1. Preheat oven to 425°. Put yeast, sugar and water in a small bowl and stir. Allow the mixture to start bubbling. Put flour and salt in another bowl and mix to combine. Add the yeast mixture to the flour. Stir the yeast mixture and flour with a circular motion in the bowl until a dough ball forms.
  2. Place the ball of dough on a floured surface and knead dough until smooth. Place the kneaded dough back in a clean bowl and cover with a damp towel. Place the covered bowl in a warm spot and allow it to sit until it doubles in size, about an hour. Pull off chunks of dough about the size of a large marble and roll it between the palms of your hands until it gets long and thin. Place breadsticks on  lightly oiled cookie sheet or aluminum foil and sprinkle with salt. Bake 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Let cool.
