About Operation Backpack:

Operation Backpack provides weekly sacks of kid-friendly, shelf-stable food to get students through the weekend when school meals are not available. Participating children are discreetly given these backpacks to take home, enabling them to come back to school on Monday with the good nutrition and focus they need to achieve academic success.

During the past school year, which was abbreviated due to COVID-19, the Operation Backpack program provided 439,972 meals to children in need. In order to meet the demand posed by current economic challenges, Operation Backpack plans to increase capacity by 50%. With support of generous funders, we hope to distribute 870,640 meals throughout the 2020-2021 school year.
